This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1962 for the ultra rare first release of King Kong vs. Godzilla.
Kaiju refers to the "giant monster" film genre in Japan. Interestingly, the Godzilla series was partly inspired by the 1952 re-release of King Kong in Japan, followed by The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms in 1953. The Japanese title of the latter was 原子怪獣現わる, meaning "An Atomic Kaiju Appears." Godzilla made its debut in 1954, and King Kong vs. Godzilla became the third film in the series. It was so popular that it had an astounding four theatrical releases over the years!
This is the original 1962 country-of-origin poster for the first release. It is extremely rare and, to my knowledge, has only been sold a couple of times publicly in the West. Don’t miss this incredible opportunity!
