This is an original Japanese B1 poster printed in 1982 to promote the Japanese theatrical release of Mobile Suit Gundam III: Encounters in Space (機動戦士ガンダムIII めぐりあい宇宙編), the third film in the original Gundam theatrical trilogy. The film was released in Japanese cinemas on 13 March 1982, and this horizontal B1 design is one of the most visually distinctive posters from the early Gundam era.

Film background
Mobile Suit Gundam III: Encounters in Space brings the One Year War to its conclusion and condenses the latter part of the original 1979 television series into a theatrical feature. Set against the backdrop of the final conflict between the Earth Federation and the Principality of Zeon, the film follows Amuro Ray, Char Aznable, and the crew of White Base as the war reaches its decisive final stage. The film is directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino, with Yoshikazu Yasuhiko responsible for character design, Kunio Okawara for mecha design, and music by Takeo Watanabe and Yūji Matsuyama.

This particular poster is especially striking because it avoids the more usual action-heavy montage of mobile suits and instead presents a dramatic deep-space composition dominated by a large spacecraft drifting across a star field. The illuminated interior windows reveal small character vignettes, while the bright starburst near the centre adds atmosphere and scale. The English line running across the top — “Yes, my sweet. Yes, my sweetest. I wanna get back Where you were.” — gives the sheet a slightly lyrical and unusual tone, while the bold red Gundam III title at lower left firmly connects it to the original trilogy campaign.

Poster design
The strength of this poster lies in its cinematic composition and exceptional use of the horizontal B1 format. The long, panoramic layout gives the spacecraft room to dominate the image, while the dark star field, cool metallic tones, and glowing windows create a sense of depth and grandeur that is very different from more standard anime posters of the period. It has tremendous wall presence and, once framed, will display fantastically.

This poster is in excellent condition overall, especially considering its age. It presents very strongly, with rich colour and excellent overall display appeal. Please refer to the imagery (front and back), as this is the exact poster that is for sale.

It is over 40 years old.

It is not a reproduction or a reprint.
