This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster produced for the first Japanese cinema release of I Know What You Did Last Summer (ラストサマー), directed by Jim Gillespie from a screenplay by Kevin Williamson, the writer of Scream. The film was produced in 1997 and first opened theatrically in Japan on 30 May 1998, distributed domestically by Sony Pictures Entertainment (Japan).

One of the defining films of the late-1990s teen-horror revival, I Know What You Did Last Summer follows four friends whose lives unravel after they conceal a fatal accident and, one year later, begin receiving messages from someone who knows their secret. The film stars Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe and Freddie Prinze Jr. The Japanese campaign prominently highlights its connection to Scream and the film’s three consecutive weeks at No. 1 at the US box office.

Poster design
A superb late-1990s Japanese horror design dominated by the four principal cast members, arranged in overlapping photographic panels against an intense blood-red background with rough black-and-white brushwork. The large Japanese title ラストサマー anchors the lower half, while the original English title appears beneath it.

Across the top, the Japanese advertising declares 「『スクリーム』の脚本家が仕掛けた！」 — “From the screenwriter of Scream!” — while the yellow tagline above the title reads 「気絶してたら、謎は解けない。」, approximately “If you faint, you can’t solve the mystery.” The result is an unmistakably 1990s Japanese theatrical design: bold, lurid and exceptionally frameable.
