This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed in 1997 for the first Japanese release of The Full Monty (フル・モンティ), the beloved British feel-good comedy that became an international phenomenon—equal parts sharp social realism and pure crowd-pleasing joy.
Set in post-industrial Sheffield, it follows a group of unemployed men who decide—out of desperation and pride—to form a male strip act and go “the full monty.” What could have been a one-joke premise becomes something much better: a big-hearted story about friendship, dignity, working-class survival, and finding confidence when life has taken everything else away.
Poster design
A brilliant piece of Japanese theatrical design—bold, graphic, and instantly readable from across a room. The huge red/yellow typography screams confidence, while the zip detail and the lineup of the lads sells the concept in one glance. It’s the perfect late-90s “high-impact” cinema sheet: clean, funny, and unapologetically iconic.
