This is an original Japanese B2 promotional poster issued for the 2015 release of Studio Ghibli Songs – Expanded Edition. This hard-to-find sheet was offered as a first-come, first-served purchase bonus to customers buying either the compilation or its companion music-box album at participating retailers. The lower margin carries the designation “NOT FOR SALE”, identifying its original promotional purpose.

Album background
Released by Tokuma Japan Communications on 25 November 2015, the expanded collection celebrated Studio Ghibli’s thirtieth anniversary. The two-disc album brought together 36 songs, adding ten tracks from five newer productions to the original 2008 compilation, including The Wind Rises, The Tale of the Princess Kaguya and When Marnie Was There.

The accompanying poster celebrates the artwork associated with these films, bringing decades of Japanese animation advertising together on one sheet.

Poster design
A carefully arranged five-by-five grid contains 24 Japanese advertising designs surrounding a bright blue central album panel. Beginning with Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind at the upper left and ending with When Marnie Was There at the lower right, the composition traces the films and related works represented by the collection.

Familiar images include Totoro at the bus stop, Kiki behind the bakery counter, Porco Rosso in his flying goggles, and Chihiro outside the bathhouse. Alongside the celebrated features are Ocean Waves, the music video On Your Mark, and Ghiblies episode 2, giving the selection a particularly broad appeal.

The central panel features a simple Totoro line drawing, Japanese album lettering and the English title “STUDIO GHIBLI SONGS NEW EDITION.” Its blue background matches the outer border, unifying the varied illustrations, photography and typography into a striking miniature gallery of Ghibli artwork.

Condition
Excellent, with light handling creases on the reverse. The colourful artwork remains bright and presents beautifully. Once framed, this poster will display excellently.
