“Amélie”, Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 2001, Very Rare Japan-Only Artwork, B1 Size (c. 72.8 × 103 cm) HA17A

Sale price $750.00

This is an original Japanese B1 theatrical movie poster, printed in 2001 for the film’s first release in Japan. A truly striking example of early-2000s Japanese cinema marketing — and a format and design that collectors almost never get a chance to acquire in this condition.

Produced specifically for the Japanese market, this poster features artwork unique to Japan, completely distinct from the better-known international one-sheets. The composition is instantly iconic: a deep crimson room with ornate wallpaper, the heroine framed in bed beneath small portrait paintings, and the title rendered in elegant Japanese calligraphy (「アメリ」) with the vertical tagline 「幸せになる」 (“to become happy”). The result is a bold, gallery-worthy piece with enormous display presence.

The B1 size is especially desirable for collectors — a large-format poster with serious impact on the wall — and this particular Japan-only design is very hard to come by, with genuine examples surfacing only rarely.

This piece is rare, with the B1 format and Japan-exclusive artwork making it far scarcer than standard smaller Japanese poster formats for the title.

Offered here in excellent condition overall — clean paper, strong colour, and outstanding presentation. This is an exceptionally well-preserved example, with a clean reverse.

Now over 20 years old, this poster is a beautiful time capsule from the film’s original Japanese release — a highly displayable, Japan-unique piece of modern world-cinema poster history.
