This is an original Japanese B2 promotional poster produced in 2000 for the Anpanman theatrical feature それいけ！アンパンマン 人魚姫のなみだ (Anpanman: Tears of the Mermaid Princess), released in Japan on 29 July 2000. Based on the beloved Anpanman world created by Takashi Yanase (やなせたかし), this is a charming piece of early-2000s anime ephemera that rarely survives in clean condition because it was made for promotion, not collecting.

Film background
Part of the long-running and hugely beloved Anpanman film series, this feature centres on the mermaid princess Sunny-hime (サニー姫) and an emotional, fairy-tale-inflected story set against the warm moral universe that has made Anpanman a foundational children’s character in Japan for generations.

Poster design
