“Kill Bill: Volume 2” (キル・ビル Vol.2), Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 2004, B2 Size (51 x 73cm) E227A

Sale price $350.00

This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed in 2004 for the first Japanese release of Kill Bill: Volume 2, Quentin Tarantino’s second and concluding chapter of his stylised revenge epic. Directed by Quentin Tarantino, the film stars Uma Thurman as The Bride, with David Carradine, Daryl Hannah, Michael Madsen, Gordon Liu, and Michael Parks.

Film background
Released in 2004, Kill Bill: Volume 2 completes the story begun in Kill Bill: Volume 1, shifting the tone from the explosive martial-arts and chanbara spectacle of the first film into something more elegiac, Western-inflected, and emotionally direct. The Bride continues her quest for revenge against the remaining members of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, before finally confronting Bill himself.

While still deeply indebted to Asian martial arts cinema, spaghetti westerns, exploitation film, and revenge drama, Volume 2 places greater emphasis on memory, betrayal, training, survival, and unresolved love. It remains one of Tarantino’s most distinctive works, and one of Uma Thurman’s defining screen roles.

Poster design
A striking Japanese theatrical design dominated by Uma Thurman as The Bride, shown in a white wedding dress and veil while holding a katana horizontally across her chest. The image is severe, elegant, and highly theatrical, transforming the character from assassin into bride, warrior, and avenging figure all at once.

Behind her, the poster uses a large pink emblem made from crossed swords and tattoo-like graphic lines, with the phrase “KILL is LOVE” printed boldly across the centre. The pink-on-black palette gives the poster a sharp, fashion-led quality, quite different from the yellow-and-black visual language of Volume 1. At the bottom, the large title treatment reads KILL BILL Vol.2, with the Japanese subtitle 「ザ・ラブ・ストーリー」 and the release timing 2004 G.W., referring to Japan’s Golden Week release window.
