“Wasabi” (ワサビ), Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 2002, B3 Size (c. 36.4 × 51.5 cm) O726
This is an original Japanese B3 theatrical poster printed in 2002 for the Japanese release of Wasabi, the action-comedy produced by Luc Besson and starring Jean Reno alongside Ryoko Hirosue. A cult favourite of early-2000s French pop cinema, the film blends deadpan hitman humour with slick action and Tokyo-set energy—exactly the kind of title that became a crossover favourite in Japan.
Design
A clean, modern, early-2000s graphic layout with huge display appeal: a bold profile portrait of Reno dominates the centre, dyed in striking red, counterbalanced by Hirosue’s cool, monochrome profile at lower right. The deep red WASABI title anchors the base, while a vertical line of Japanese copy runs through the centre for dramatic tension. The right-hand column is packed with period release information—2/2 opening and a long list of theatres—giving this sheet that unmistakable “true cinema campaign” feel. The small film stills on the left complete the marketing collage without cluttering the main design.
