“After Hours” (アフター・アワーズ), Original Japanese Movie Poster 1985, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) O715

Sale price $250.00

This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed in 1985 for the first release of After Hours (アフター・アワーズ)—Martin Scorsese’s cult-classic midnight nightmare of New York misadventure, produced by Griffin Dunne and starring Griffin Dunne with Rosanna Arquette in a key role. A razor-sharp blend of black comedy and escalating paranoia, it’s now widely regarded as one of the definitive “one crazy night” films ever made—and one of Scorsese’s most stylish detours between his larger crime epics.

Film background
Set over a single, increasingly surreal night in downtown Manhattan, After Hours follows an ordinary office worker (Dunne) whose attempt at a casual meeting spirals into a chain reaction of misunderstandings, accidents, and near-constant danger. It’s a film about urban anxiety—how the city can swallow you whole—shot with relentless momentum and a wicked sense of humour, culminating in a finale that’s as absurd as it is unforgettable.

Poster design
An outstanding Japanese design that leans into the film’s feverish psychology: a huge, wide-eyed portrait dominates the upper field, staring out over a silhouetted New York skyline drenched in deep blue and red. Below, the reclining figure and oversized clock visualise the film’s core sensation—time slipping, fate tightening, and the night refusing to end. The bold neon-style Japanese title アフター・アワーズ and the English After Hours logo lock the whole piece into a perfect 1980s aesthetic: slick, nocturnal, and intensely displayable.
