This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed in 1978 for the first Japanese release of National Lampoon’s Animal House (アニマル・ハウス), the era-defining college comedy directed by John Landis and starring John Belushi. A cornerstone of late-’70s American comedy, it helped define the modern “campus chaos” genre and remains one of the most influential—and endlessly quoted—comedies of its time.
Design
A glorious illustrated riot: the Delta House is rendered as one exploding tableau packed with gags—Belushi perched like a king, motorcycles flying, food fights, broken windows, and a crowd of characters spilling across the lawn. The candy-striped border and bold diagonal Japanese title ribbon 「アニマル・ハウス」 give the sheet huge energy and unmistakable late-’70s wall presence—one of the best Japan-market illustrated designs for an American comedy.
