“City of God” (シティ・オブ・ゴッド), Original Japanese Release Movie Poster 2003, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) ZA419
This is an original Japanese poster printed in 2003 for the first release of City of God.
This particular example is in very good / excellent, cinema‑used condition. Colours remain vivid, but there are clear signs of theatrical use, including pinholes in the corners, edge wear and small tears / roughness along the right border (see the close‑up images). The price reflects this honest patina of use and makes it an attractive option for collectors who prefer an authentic “from the cinema wall” look.
Directed by Fernando Meirelles (co-directed by Kátia Lund) and based on Paulo Lins’s novel, City of God chronicles the rise of organized crime in a Rio de Janeiro favela across the 1960s–80s. The film became a global cult classic and earned four Academy Award nominations (Best Director, Adapted Screenplay, Cinematography, and Editing).
A striking two-part composition: the upper field features the iconic, high-contrast image of a gun-toting youth; the bottom band shows a lineup of kids pointing guns toward the camera. Massive metallic-gold typography spells CITY OF GOD, with the Japanese title シティ・オブ・ゴッド set beneath.
It is over 22 years old!
