“Collateral” (コラテラル), Original Japanese B2 Movie Poster 2004, B2 Size (c. 51 × 73 cm) O573

Sale price $125.00

This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed for the 2004 release of Collateral, Michael Mann’s neo‑noir action thriller starring Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx, with Jada Pinkett Smith and Mark Ruffalo in supporting roles. Set over the course of one night in Los Angeles, the film was acclaimed for its performances, digital cinematography and tense, character‑driven storytelling.

Film background
Max, a conscientious cab driver nursing dreams of starting his own limo company, picks up a sharply dressed stranger named Vincent. What seems like a routine fare turns into a nightmare when Max discovers that Vincent is a contract killer who intends to use the taxi to hit five targets before dawn. Forced to drive from one assignment to the next, Max must find a way to outwit his lethal passenger and protect the final intended victim. Shot largely with high‑definition digital cameras that capture the city’s sodium‑lit streets and glassy towers, the film weaves existential conversation with sudden bursts of violence and has become one of Mann’s most admired works.

Poster design
The Japanese B2 goes for stark, intimate intensity. The entire sheet is dominated by an extreme close‑up of a man’s bearded face, cropped so that one eye and half his mouth occupy the left side of the frame, while the right fades into a bokeh of out‑of‑focus city lights in orange and gold. The grainy texture and shallow depth of field echo the film’s nocturnal digital look. Across the centre, the star’s name appears in bold orange Japanese text, with the film title コラテラル in large white characters underneath. A compact credit block and website address sit along the bottom edge above a Japanese tagline, leaving the looming face and glowing nightscape to do most of the visual work. It’s a minimalist, atmospheric design that instantly suggests tension and urban danger.
