“Die Hard 2” (ダイ・ハード2), Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 1990, Bruce Willis, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) B110
This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed in 1990 for the first Japanese release of Die Hard 2 (ダイ・ハード2), the explosive action sequel starring Bruce Willis as John McClane.
Directed by Renny Harlin, the film follows McClane as he becomes trapped in another large-scale terrorist crisis — this time at Washington Dulles International Airport, where a rogue military group takes control of the airport’s communications and threatens incoming aircraft.
Film background
Released in 1990, Die Hard 2 continued the huge success of the original Die Hard, returning Bruce Willis to one of the defining action roles of the late twentieth century. The film expanded the scale from a single skyscraper to an entire airport under siege, combining disaster-film tension, military conspiracy, hostage drama, and relentless action set pieces.
The Japanese campaign strongly emphasized the sequel’s premise: John McClane, once again in the wrong place at the worst possible time.
Poster design
This Japanese B2 is a bold, high-impact action design. The composition is dominated by a large close-up portrait of Bruce Willis, his face dramatically lit against a black background, with fire and aircraft imagery exploding behind him.
The massive red Japanese title ダイ・ハード2 stretches across the top, immediately giving the poster strong street-distance visibility. The yellow headline reads:
「また、戦場へ来てしまった運の悪い奴!」
“The unlucky guy has ended up on a battlefield again!”
The right-side Japanese copy sets out the crisis:
「ワシントンD.C. ダレス国際空港に非常事態発生!テロ集団が航空管制塔を占拠!! 機能は完全マヒ、パニックが続く空港にまたしても“あの男”がいた!」
A natural rendering is:
“Emergency at Washington D.C.’s Dulles International Airport! A terrorist group has seized the air traffic control tower! With the airport completely paralysed and panic spreading, ‘that man’ is there once again!”
The lower-right section features the English title BRUCE WILLIS / DIE HARD 2, while the bottom margin carries the Japanese credits, Dolby Stereo marking, and 20th Century Fox release details. The overall effect is pure early-1990s action marketing: dramatic, fiery, direct, and highly displayable.
