“Fellini Satyricon” (サテリコン), Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 1970 (film 1969), B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) P2
This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed for the first Japanese release of Fellini Satyricon (サテリコン), Federico Fellini’s hallucinatory Roman epic inspired by Petronius’ fragmented novel. The film was produced in 1969 and first opened theatrically in Japan in 1970 (as issued by United Artists / ユナイト映画 in Japan, noted at the bottom of the sheet).
A landmark of late-1960s/early-1970s European cinema, Satyricon is pure Fellini: a dreamlike, episodic journey through a decadent ancient world—part myth, part satire, part nightmare—celebrated for its daring production design, surreal imagery, and fearless sensuality.
Poster design
An extraordinary, psychedelic collage design anchored by a ring of stylised character heads and grotesque mythic figures orbiting the central tableau—an emblematic “Fellini universe” rendered in vivid colour against a black field. The title サテリコン explodes across the lower centre in neon brush-stroke lettering (pink, yellow, green), with FELLINI SATYRICON printed above and the Technicolor / Panavision call-out included. This is one of the strongest Japanese designs for any Fellini title—maximal, theatrical, and spectacular framed.
It is over 55 years old!
