“Friday the 13th Part 2” (13日の金曜日 PART 2), Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 1981, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) O509

Sale price $120.00

This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1981 for the first Japanese theatrical release of Friday the 13th Part 2 (13日の金曜日 PART 2), directed by Steve Miner and distributed in Japan by Paramount/CIC. The film is the second entry in the long‑running Friday the 13th slasher series and the movie that truly introduces Jason Voorhees as the franchise’s primary killer.

Film background
Set five years after the events of the original film, Part 2 follows a new group of camp counsellors training near the now‑infamous Camp Crystal Lake. Unknown to them, the supposedly drowned Jason has survived and now stalks the woods, wearing a sack over his head and seeking vengeance for his mother. The movie helped codify many of the slasher tropes the series is known for and laid the groundwork for Jason’s later hockey‑mask persona.

Poster design
The Japanese B2 offers a bold reworking of the U.S. campaign. Dominating the sheet is a looming black silhouette seen from the waist down, standing against a moonlit sky, with a blood‑soaked axe hanging casually from one hand—a simple, menacing image that perfectly communicates the film’s threat. On the left, the huge red vertical title 「13日の金曜日 PART 2」 runs from top to bottom, accompanied by a blue Japanese tagline that recalls the “incident” of the first film and warns that a second tragedy is about to begin. Near the lower left, the English logo FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 2 and a small still of the campers around a fire round out the design, while the Paramount and CIC logos appear at the bottom edge.
