“Gate of Flesh” (肉体の門, Nikutai no mon), Original Release Japanese B2 Movie Poster 1964, B2 Size (c. 51 × 73 cm) ZA230
This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed in 1964 for the first domestic release of Gate of Flesh, Seijun Suzuki’s incendiary adaptation of Taijirō Tamura’s novel for Nikkatsu.
Film background
Set amid the ruins of post‑war Tokyo, Gate of Flesh follows a fiercely independent group of prostitutes who enforce a harsh internal code—no freebies for men, and brutal punishment for those who break the rules. When a wounded ex‑soldier hides among them, erotic rivalry, loyalty and violence collide. Suzuki’s stylised direction, expressive colour and daring treatment of sexuality have made the film a touchstone of Japanese New Wave cinema.
Poster design
This B2 design captures the film’s charged atmosphere. At the top, a woman in a pale dress is bound in a dingy warehouse interior, flanked by other figures whose expressions shift from menace to uneasy fascination. The lower half features a tense close‑up of leading man Jō Shishido, bare‑chested and alert, with another woman reclining beside him. Bold red typography for the title 肉体の門 slashes vertically down the right side, echoing the film’s mixture of passion and violence. The classic Nikkatsu logo and dense red cast credits complete the layout.
This example is in very good condition for its age. Colours remain strong and the artwork presents extremely well. Please review the photos carefully—this is the exact poster you will receive.
