“Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade” (人狼 JIN-ROH), Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 2000, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) ZA408
This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 2000 for the first Japanese theatrical release of Jin‑Roh: The Wolf Brigade (人狼 JIN‑ROH), the acclaimed animated feature directed by Hiroyuki Okiura, written by Mamoru Oshii and produced by Production I.G, with Bandai Visual handling distribution in Japan.
Film background
Set in an alternate post‑war Japan where Nazi Germany has won World War II, the film follows Kazuki Fuse, a member of the heavily armoured “Kerberos” unit of the Capital Police, as he struggles with guilt after failing to shoot a teenage bomb courier during a riot. Drawn into a relationship with a mysterious young woman linked to the dead girl, Fuse becomes a pawn in a power struggle between rival security agencies, with the fairy tale of “Little Red Riding Hood” used as a haunting metaphor for hunters and prey. Blending political thriller, tragic romance and philosophical meditation on violence, Jin‑Roh is regarded as a key work in Oshii’s Kerberos Saga.
Poster design
The poster’s composition is stark and lyrical. A huge, melancholy close‑up of the young woman’s face, framed by a deep red hood, fills the upper half of the sheet, evoking the Red Riding Hood motif. Below, Fuse stands with his back to the viewer on a devastated urban landscape, clad in heavy black armour and cradling his rifle, the white “JIN‑ROH” title printed across his shoulders. The glowing calligraphic kanji 「人狼」 slash across the centre in warm gold, their brush strokes echoing muzzle flashes or claw marks, while a vertical tagline runs down the right edge. The cool blue‑to‑violet background gradient emphasises the film’s somber, nocturnal mood.
