This is an ultra-rare original Japanese B3 promotional poster issued in 1999 by Konami / KCE Japan for the PlayStation release of Metal Gear Solid Integral. Produced for Japanese shop display during the game’s on-sale period, it captures the point where Metal Gear Solid had already become a worldwide hit, with the poster itself proclaiming “Over 3.5 million units worldwide!” and “NOW ON SALE.” For many collectors, this is one of the most striking Metal Gear promotions: the stark pale ground, the monumental black-and-metallic silver vertical logo, the spaced INTEGRAL lettering, and Yoji Shinkawa’s unmistakable artwork give it superb wall presence. This poster is genuinely scarce — the last time we had one in stock was in 2021.
This is the Japanese on-sale shop-display design for Metal Gear Solid Integral, the expanded PlayStation-era follow-up released after the original Metal Gear Solid had broken through internationally. Rather than a pre-release teaser, this is a true retail-period poster, using the game’s global sales milestone as part of the design itself. That makes it especially appealing to collectors: it is not just a Metal Gear Solid poster, but a period piece from the moment the game had already become a major success and Konami was marketing it as a proven phenomenon.
About the release
Released in Japan for the original PlayStation as Metal Gear Solid Integral, this edition belongs to the same landmark late-1990s moment that established Metal Gear Solid as one of gaming’s defining modern franchises. The poster’s “Over 3.5 million units worldwide!” copy places it firmly in that post-launch success window, while the huge “NOW ON SALE” text confirms its function as an active shop display piece rather than an advance-coming-soon sheet. For collectors, that combination of Integral branding, sales-milestone copy, and original retail-display purpose makes it a much harder poster to find than many standard release-period game ads.
Poster design
The artwork is classic Yoji Shinkawa-era Metal Gear: a large warm-white field, smoky monochrome character illustration, and a towering black side panel dominated by the huge METAL GEAR logo. The reflective metallic silver SOLID strip gives the poster its standout finish and catches the light beautifully in person. The left margin carries the Konami / KCE Japan / PlayStation logos, the vertical copy reads “Over 3.5 million units worldwide!”, and the lower text block announces “NOW ON SALE / A GAME BY HIDEO KOJIMA.” It is a bold, minimalist Japanese retail design with real presence on the wall.

Condition
Good — an authentic, very hard-to-find example with clear age and handling wear. The display side is still very presentable overall, but it shows multiple creases and stress lines across the poster, most noticeably through the black metallic right-hand section and across the lower “NOW / ON SALE” area. There is surface rubbing / scuffing, general handling wear, light waviness, scattered spotting / foxing and age speckling to the pale background, and edge / corner wear, with the upper-right corner showing the most obvious wear and creasing. The reverse is unprinted and shows heavier foxing / age spotting, discoloration, scuffs, and a brown stain / streak down the lower center, all visible in the photos. Still a very striking display piece (once framed with a mount) because of the bold black-and-silver design, but this is not a near mint example. Please review the images carefully, as they show the exact poster for sale.
It is over 26 years old.
It is not a reproduction or a reprint.
