This is an original double‑sided Japanese B2 shop poster produced for the 2003 PlayStation®2 release of Neon Genesis Evangelion 2 (Bandai / Alfa System). Printed with “NOT FOR SALE” at lower left and product code SLPS‑25299, this was issued only to retailers for in‑store display and window backlighting—never sold to the public. Rights line credits GAINAX / Project Eva and Bandai Co., Ltd. 2003; the key‑art is signed “Y.S.” (Yoshiyuki Sadamoto) in the image.
Design highlights (two sides):
-
Character ensemble side: a definitive Evangelion tableau—Shinji, Asuka, and Rei in plugsuits before Eva‑01, flanked by Eva‑00 and Eva‑02, with the ominous gaze of Gendō Ikari brooding above. The PlayStation®2 header sits at the top right; the official EVANGELION 2 logo anchors the lower right. The saturated inks and crisp linework are classic Sadamoto.
-
Mecha action side (reverse): a painterly, kinetic composition of an Evangelion unit bursting through smoke and flame—designed to read through a lightbox or shop window when backlit. The EVANGELION 2 logo appears again at the bottom.
Why collectors want this piece
-
True retail artifact from the PS2 launch campaign—double‑sided shop posters are considerably scarcer than standard single‑sided promo B2s.
-
Sadamoto‑signed artwork in the plate (“Y.S.”) and an all‑star character lineup make it a perfect centerpiece for any Eva or PS2 era collection.
-
Clean branding (PS2 header, Bandai credit, rights line, “NOT FOR SALE”) confirms authenticity at a glance.
It is over 20 years old!
Condition: Excellent, rolled (never folded). Please review the photos—the images show the exact poster you will receive.
