"Nirvana" (ニルヴァーナ), Original Japanese Movie Poster 1997, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) N224

Sale price $100.00

This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1997 for the release of Nirvana, directed by Gabriele Salvatores and screened in competition at the 50th Cannes International Film Festival.

Nirvana is a visionary Italian cyberpunk film starring Christopher Lambert, Diego Abatantuono, and Emmanuelle Seigner. Set in a near-future dystopia, it tells the story of a game designer whose latest creation—a self-aware AI named Solo—discovers its own mortality. Seeking release from existence, Solo compels its creator to help it escape. The film blends themes of virtual reality, identity, and freedom with a vivid mix of Eastern mysticism and Western cyberpunk aesthetics.

The poster design is one of the most visually striking of 1990s international cinema posters. A central image of a fierce blue deity with flaming red tongue dominates the composition, surrounded by golden mandala-like motifs and framed by stills from the film. The bold red Japanese title 「ニルヴァーナ」 stands out across the intricate background, signaling the fusion of spirituality and digital futurism at the heart of the story.
