“ONE PIECE FILM: STRONG WORLD / ワンピースフィルム ストロングワールド”, ORIGINAL JAPANESE DOUBLE-SIDED B1 THEATRICAL ROADSHOW POSTER 2009, Rare, B1 Size (c. 72.8 x 103cm)

Sale price $475.00

An original Japanese double-sided B1 theatrical roadshow poster for One Piece Film: Strong World / ワンピースフィルム ストロングワールド, released in Japan in 2009. Directed by Munehisa Sakai / 境宗久, with original work, film story, costume and creature design, and executive production by Eiichiro Oda / 尾田栄一郎, this was the landmark tenth theatrical feature in the One Piece film series and one of the most important early cinema entries in the franchise.

This striking B1 poster presents a dynamic collage-style composition centred on Monkey D. Luffy, shown in his Strong World aviator outfit, surrounded by the Straw Hat crew in a sequence of dramatic, manga-panel portraits. The design includes Sanji, Zoro, Franky, Usopp, Nico Robin, Chopper, Brook, and Nami, with the floating-island world and bright rainbow landscape worked into the background.

The poster carries the bold central title STRONG WORLD, with ONE PIECE FILM beneath, and the theatrical roadshow date:

12.12 / sat / ROADSHOW

This example is especially desirable as a double-sided Japanese B1 theatrical poster, with the reverse printed in mirror image for cinema light-box display. It also carries the printed NOT FOR SALE notice in the lower margin, confirming its status as a theatrical promotional display piece rather than a commercial retail poster.

A superb original Japanese anime theatrical sheet: 2009 first-release period, double-sided, oversize B1, ultra rare, and displaying excellently.

Design Notes

This is one of the most visually energetic Japanese theatrical designs for One Piece Film: Strong World. The poster adopts a manga-page / storyboard structure, arranging the Straw Hat crew in individually framed panels around the central figure of Luffy.

The composition is dominated by bold blacks, saturated reds, hand-drawn textures, and watercolour-like shading, giving the sheet a distinctly illustrated quality. Unlike more conventional anime film posters, this design feels deliberately close to the look and rhythm of the manga page: expressive faces, exaggerated tension, motion, sweat, humour, and impact.

At the centre, Luffy grips a large weapon or staff, his body thrust forward in a classic action pose. Around him, the other crew members appear in states of alarm, determination, or comic panic, all contributing to the poster’s restless narrative energy. The design captures the tone of Strong World perfectly: adventure, danger, comedy, speed, and full-crew spectacle.

The poster’s large B1 scale gives the artwork considerable presence. The heavy black STRONG WORLD typography anchors the image, while the red-brown Japanese brush lettering along the right side gives the composition a strong theatrical pull.

Text and Translation Notes

Main title:
ONE PIECE FILM STRONG WORLD
ワンピースフィルム ストロングワールド

Japanese theatrical tagline:
鼓動のボリュームを上げろ!
“Turn up the volume of your heartbeat!”

This phrase is one of the key promotional slogans associated with the film. It conveys the high-energy, full-throttle tone of the theatrical campaign, and works especially well with the poster’s urgent character expressions and dynamic layout.

Release line:
12.12 / sat / ROADSHOW
12 December, Saturday, theatrical roadshow

Printed notice:
NOT FOR SALE

This is a notable collector detail, reinforcing that the poster was produced for theatrical display and not as a standard retail item.

Double-Sided Light-Box Format

This poster is double-sided, with the reverse printed in mirror image. This format was used for cinema light-box display, allowing the artwork to remain vivid and legible when illuminated from behind.

For collectors, this is an important distinction. Many anime posters are single-sided or later decorative prints. A genuine double-sided Japanese B1 theatrical poster represents a more specialised cinema-display format and is substantially harder to source, particularly for major manga and anime properties.

The reverse printing on this example is clearly visible in the supplied photographs, including the mirrored STRONG WORLD title, mirrored 12.12 / sat / ROADSHOW text, and mirrored lower production credits.

The Japanese B1 Format and Rarity

Japanese theatrical posters are most commonly encountered in the smaller B2 format. The larger B1 format, measuring approximately 72.8 × 103 cm, was produced in far smaller numbers for more prominent cinema display, including lobby cases, large-format theatre boards, and illuminated poster frames.

This example is especially desirable because it combines several collector-grade attributes:

Original 2009 Japanese theatrical issue
Large B1 format
Double-sided light-box printing
Printed NOT FOR SALE notice
Eiichiro Oda-led Strong World campaign imagery
Full Straw Hat crew composition
Highly displayable condition despite noted repair

For serious One Piece and Japanese anime poster collectors, original domestic theatrical B1 sheets are among the most desirable forms of release-period paper.

Film Context

One Piece Film: Strong World occupies an important place in the franchise’s theatrical history. It was the tenth One Piece feature film, released in Japan on 12 December 2009, and was particularly significant because Eiichiro Oda was directly involved with the film’s story and production in a much more substantial way than in earlier theatrical entries.

The film’s story centres on the legendary pirate Golden Lion Shiki, who confronts Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates while threatening the East Blue. The cast includes the core Straw Hat voice actors, with Naoto Takenaka / 竹中直人 appearing as Shiki.

The poster reflects this heightened franchise moment: not simply another anime tie-in poster, but a major theatrical campaign sheet for a film closely associated with Oda’s creative authorship.

Condition Report

Very Good condition.

The poster presents strongly, with bright colour, bold typography, clear printing, and excellent overall wall presence. The image remains highly displayable, with the central Luffy artwork, crew panels, release date, and title all reading cleanly.

There is a tape repair to the verso, visible in the supplied reverse-side photographs. This repair was not applied by us. There is also expected handling wear consistent with an oversize theatrical sheet, including light creasing, minor edge wear, small margin imperfections, and general signs of prior display or storage.

Importantly, the poster displays excellently from the front. The principal artwork remains vivid and impressive at full B1 scale.

This is the exact poster shown in the photographs.

Authenticity Statement

This is an original 2009 Japanese theatrical B1 poster for One Piece Film: Strong World / ワンピースフィルム ストロングワールド.

It is not a modern reproduction, not a later decorative print, and not a standard smaller B2 poster. It is the genuine theatrical article: Japanese B1 size, double-sided light-box printing, mirror-image reverse, printed NOT FOR SALE notice, and original 12.12 roadshow campaign text.

A major One Piece theatrical rarity: original Japanese B1, double-sided, full-crew Strong World artwork, release-period cinema display format, and an excellent display piece despite the noted verso repair.
