"Street Fighter II: The World Warrior", Original Release Japanese CAPCOM Promotional Poster 1991, Extremely Rare, B1 Size (c.71 × 103 cm)

Sale price $1,500.00

Street Fighter II is widely considered one of the most influential video games ever made.

This is an original Japanese B1 poster issued in 1991 by CAPCOM to promote Street Fighter II: The World Warrior, the legendary arcade fighting game that redefined the genre. Posters of this kind were distributed in extremely limited numbers, typically to Japanese arcades, and were never sold commercially. Today they are regarded as some of the most desirable and hardest-to-find pieces of gaming history.

The artwork features the iconic roster of world warriors, including Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Guile, Zangief, E. Honda, Dhalsim, and Blanka—each rendered in bold, dynamic illustration that captures the intensity of the game. The bottom margin proudly bears the CAPCOM logo and the lineup of playable characters with their national flags, emphasizing the game’s international appeal.

Street Fighter II is widely considered one of the most influential video games ever made. First released in Japanese arcades in 1991, it not only defined the competitive fighting game scene but also had a profound cultural impact—popularizing tournaments, inspiring a wave of sequels, and cementing characters like Ryu, Chun-Li, and Guile as global pop culture icons. Its innovations in gameplay mechanics and character diversity set a new standard for the industry.

This poster is in overall excellent condition for its age. There are some tiny pinholes on top right and left hand corners - please see additional imagery provided (both front and back)

As with nearly all arcade promotional posters, print runs were very small compared to film posters, making survival rates extremely low.

Provenance:
This original non-commercial B1 poster for Street Fighter II was obtained in Japan during the 1991 through a special CAPCOM service, where arcade posters could be received by sending in postage stamps. The poster was displayed in a room for around two years before being carefully stored in a warehouse for the next three decades. Now released from long-term private storage, it shows only natural signs of age consistent with over 30 years of careful home preservation.

It is not a reproduction or a reprint.

A Certificate of Authenticity is included.
