This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1984 for the first Japanese theatrical release of Streets of Fire (ストリート・オブ・ファイヤー), Walter Hill’s stylised “rock & roll fable” produced by Universal. The film stars Michael Paré, Diane Lane, Rick Moranis, Amy Madigan, and Willem Dafoe, and has developed an especially devoted following in Japan, where its fusion of neon-lit action, rock music, motorcycle-gang imagery, and heightened comic-book style found a particularly receptive audience.

Film background

Released in 1984, Streets of Fire occupies a distinctive place in 1980s American cinema. Directed by Walter Hill, it combines elements of the Western, action film, rock musical, and urban fantasy within a deliberately timeless setting.

The story follows former soldier Tom Cody, who returns to his old neighbourhood after rock singer Ellen Aim is abducted by the Bombers, a motorcycle gang led by the menacing Raven Shaddock. Although its initial American box-office performance was modest, the film subsequently became a major cult classic, celebrated for its bold production design, mythic storytelling, and exceptional soundtrack, including “Nowhere Fast,” “I Can Dream About You,” and “Tonight Is What It Means to Be Young.”
