This is an original Japanese B2 poster issued in Japan for the theatrical release of Tarzan’s Peril (1951), an RKO adventure entry in the post-war Tarzan cycle starring Lex Barker as Tarzan and Virginia Huston as Jane, with Dorothy Hart featured as the alluring “jungle queen” figure at the centre of the story. Fast, colourful, and packed with classic jungle peril—tribal conflict, captivity, wild animals, and heroic rescues—this title is pure early-1950s adventure cinema, and Japanese illustrated campaign posters from this era are increasingly prized for their bold artwork and scarcity.

Poster design

A sensational piece of Showa-era pulp illustration, absolutely overflowing with action. Tarzan dominates the composition in heroic, muscular brushwork—arms raised in a feat of strength, lifting an opponent overhead—while Jane and the second female lead are rendered in glamorous, pin-up-adjacent colour. The design is framed by vivid vignettes: a snarling ape, jungle pursuers, and dramatic wildlife action in the lower right, all painted with dynamic movement and high-contrast colour. The enormous yellow title block 「ターザンと密林の女王」 punches off the deep black shape behind it, while the English title TARZAN’S PERIL appears at the top, giving the whole sheet a striking bilingual presence.
