This is an original Japanese A2 promotional poster issued in 2000 for a Panasonic retail campaign tied to the Japanese DVD release of The Matrix.

The poster was produced during the film’s first major Japanese home-video launch window and promotes Panasonic’s then-new portable DVD players, the DVD-LV75 and DVD-PV55, alongside the Japanese Special Edition DVD release of The Matrix. With its printed campaign deadline of 31 May 2000, this is a highly period-specific retail display piece from the early Japanese DVD market.

This is not a standard theatrical poster or a generic film advertisement. It is an unusual crossover campaign poster linking one of the defining science-fiction films of the late 1990s with Panasonic’s push into portable DVD hardware. About the release

Released theatrically in 1999 and on Japanese DVD in March 2000, The Matrix arrived at a crucial moment in the transition from VHS to DVD. Poster design
