"The Simpsons" (The Video Game), Original Release Japanese KONAMI Promotional Poster 1991, Extremely Rare, B1 Size (c.71 × 103 cm)
Konami’s The Simpsons Arcade Game is widely regarded as one of the most beloved 4‑player beat ’em up arcade titles of the early 1990s.
This is an original Japanese B1 poster issued in 1991 by KONAMI to promote The Video Game: The Simpsons—the classic coin‑op brawler based on Matt Groening’s era‑defining animated series. Posters of this kind were produced in very limited quantities for Japanese arcades/operators and were never sold commercially, which is why authentic surviving examples are increasingly hard to find.
The artwork is instantly iconic: the full Simpson family (Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie) posed beneath the hand‑painted “THE SIMPSONS” logo on a dramatic sunburst background, paired with bold Japanese side text—including “発表!! 世界一” (“Announcement!! World’s No.1”) and “スチャラカ家族。”. The lower right features Matt Groening’s printed signature, plus period-correct licensing/copyright text (Twentieth Century Fox / Konami), which is a fantastic authenticity marker for this original era of arcade promotion.
Konami’s The Simpsons Arcade Game is widely regarded as one of the most beloved 4‑player beat ’em up arcade titles of the early 1990s. First released in arcades in 1991, it lets up to four players jump in simultaneously as Homer, Marge, Bart, or Lisa—brawling through Springfield to rescue baby Maggie after she’s kidnapped by Smithers and Mr. Burns. The game is celebrated for its vibrant, show-accurate animation, comedic enemy designs, and chaotic co‑op gameplay, and it stands as a key piece of Konami’s “golden era” of licensed arcade brawlers. A great extra detail: the fine print even references Bongo and Binky from Groening’s earlier Life in Hell work—an unmistakably period-correct deep cut.
This poster is in overall excellent condition (close to near mint) for its age. The colors remain vibrant, the paper presents cleanly, and the reverse is blank/clean as shown. Only minimal handling/storage wear consistent with careful preservation—please see the additional imagery provided (front and back).
As with nearly all arcade promotional posters, print runs were very small compared to film posters, making survival rates extremely low.
