“Un Flic / Lisbon Express” (リスボン特急), Original Japanese Movie Poster 1972, First Release, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) O111
This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1972 for the first domestic theatrical release of Un Flic (リスボン特急), directed by Jean-Pierre Melville and released in Japan by Tōwa. First-issue Japanese posters for Melville’s final, coolly minimalist policier—starring Alain Delon and Catherine Deneuve—are highly collectible.
Film background
Delon plays Paris police commissioner Édouard Coleman, whose cat-and-mouse pursuit of suave nightclub owner and heist leader Simon (Richard Crenna) is complicated by their mutual attachment to Cathy (Catherine Deneuve). Melville distills themes of loyalty, betrayal, and fatalism into a series of austere set-pieces, including a storm-lashed bank job and a meticulously engineered train robbery. Released shortly before Melville’s death, the film stands as a summation of his stripped-back crime cinema.
Poster design
A chic, moody country sheet: an oversized profile portrait of Deneuve fills the right field while Delon, in tailored suit and narrow tie, stands full-length at left with a pistol hanging at his side. The teal, radiating “UN FLIC” masthead crowns the design; the bold magenta Japanese logotype 「リスボン特急」 anchors the base above credits. Ornamental ironwork motifs and lavender side borders add French elegance. The Tōwa mark and Eirin rating appear along the footer—classic hallmarks of a first-release sheet with superb wall presence.
