This is an original, previously-folded, humungous Japanese B0 movie poster from 1980 for the first release of Kagemusha. This is one of the only posters of this size that still exists for this film. This poster is in great condition and been stored very carefully for almost 50 years. As it is extremely large, there are some tears but these will not be very evident once the poster is framed, We have taken the condition of the poster into consideration with the price, We are very happy to provide additional imagery on request.

THIS POSTER IS INCREDIBLY RARE - We have only ever seen one in the many years we have been in Japan trading posters!

Kagemusha (影武者, Shadow Warrior) is a 1980 jidaigeki film directed by Akira Kurosawa. Kagemusha is the Japanese term for a political decoy, literally meaning "shadow warrior". It is set in the Sengoku period of Japanese history and tells the story of a lower-class criminal who is taught to impersonate a dying daimyō to dissuade opposing lords from attacking the newly vulnerable clan. The daimyō is based on Takeda Shingen, and the film ends with the climactic 1575 Battle of Nagashino.

The film won the Palme d'Or at the 1980 Cannes Film Festival (tied with All That Jazz). It was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and received other honours. (Source Wikipedia)
