“Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence” (イノセンス), Original First Release Japanese Movie Poster 2004, Double-Sided B1 Size (71 × 103 cm)

Sale price $350.00

This is an original Japanese B1 theatrical poster printed in 2004 for the first release of Innocence (イノセンス) (internationally released as Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence), Mamoru Oshii’s visually lavish cyberpunk follow-up set in the Ghost in the Shell universe. B1 is the larger Japanese theatrical format (roughly US one-sheet size) and is far less commonly seen than the standard B2, making this an especially desirable display piece in this size.

Innocence is a 2004 Japanese animated cyberpunk feature written and directed by Mamoru Oshii, produced by Production I.G (with production cooperation from Studio Ghibli) and released theatrically in Japan on March 6, 2004, with distribution by Toho. Loosely based on Masamune Shirow’s The Ghost in the Shell, the story follows Section 9’s Batou and Togusa as they investigate a disturbing case involving advanced gynoid “dolls,” pushing the film’s central questions about consciousness, identity, and what separates humans from machines.

This distinctive key art is one of the most striking designs associated with the film: Batou’s silhouetted figure cradles his basset hound in the foreground while the background glows with golden clockwork, gears, and industrial piping, visually echoing the film’s mechanical/automaton motifs. The bold red vertical Japanese tagline reads:
「イノセンス それは、いのち。」
(“Innocence—this is life.”)
Above the title, the banner reads 「押井 守 監督作品」 (“A film by Mamoru Oshii”), and the bottom release line confirms the original roadshow date: 「2004年3月6日(土) 全国東宝洋画系ロードショー」.
