This is an original Japanese B1 theatrical poster printed in 1997 for the original release campaign of Perfect Blue (パーフェクトブルー), Satoshi Kon’s iconic psychological thriller. In Japan, the B2 format is the most common poster size by far. This larger B1 (approx. 71 × 103 cm) is far less frequently encountered and is highly sought-after—especially for major anime titles like this. 

Perfect Blue is a 1997 Japanese animated psychological thriller directed by Satoshi Kon (his feature directorial debut), animated by Madhouse, and distributed by Rex Entertainment. The screenplay is by Sadayuki Murai, and the story is based on Yoshikazu Takeuchi’s novel Perfect Blue: Complete Metamorphosis. The film follows pop idol Mima Kirigoe as she leaves her group to pursue acting, becomes the focus of obsessive stalking, and begins to lose her grip on reality as violent events unfold around her. 

This striking “scanline/TV” style artwork captures the film’s themes of identity fracture and mediated reality: Mima’s enlarged face dominates the right side like a distorted CRT broadcast, while the foreground shows a blood-smeared figure raising an ice pick over a slumped man—an ominous nod to the story’s escalating violence and paranoia. The Japanese taglines printed on the poster read:
「もう自分のことがわからない。」
(“I don’t know who I am anymore.”)
「1秒前の私と今の私、どうして同じだとわかるの？」
(“How can I know I’m the same person as one second ago?”)
The bottom credits include “監督: 今 敏” (Satoshi Kon), with the Rex Entertainment logo and copyright line consistent with original-era Japanese theatrical materials. 

Condition
Very good to Excellent, consistent with age. The poster displays beautifully with strong overall color and clean title lettering. A tiny part of the bottom left hand corner is missing from previous display. Once framed this will be barely noticeable. There is very minor handling/age marks visible in the white borders (including small spots/toning near the top margin) plus mild waviness from prior storage/display. The reverse is blank.
