“Be-Bop High School: Final”, Original Japanese Movie Poster 1988, B2 Size (c. 51 × 73 cm) O648
This is an original Japanese B2 poster issued in Japan for Be-Bop High School: Final (1988), the concluding entry in the hugely popular Be-Bop High School live-action film series—an iconic late-1980s Japanese youth / yankī delinquent franchise based on the manga by Kazuhiko Kōuchi. Starring Tōru Nakamura and Kōjirō Shimizu as the legendary delinquent duo, the Be-Bop films became defining pop-culture artefacts of the era—equal parts comedy, swagger, and street-fight bravado—now prized by collectors as quintessential “Showa-to-Heisei transition” cinema ephemera.
Poster design
A bold, graphic, high-design sheet that feels closer to contemporary fashion advertising than standard film promotion. The upper field is dominated by two monumental illustrated portraits—dark, sharply inked faces with heavy pompadours—set against a stark off-white ground, with a single vertical line of red Japanese copy slicing the negative space for maximum tension. The lower half detonates into a solid block of intense crimson, carrying the huge English title “BE-BOP HIGHSCHOOL” with FINAL stamped above—an aggressive typographic statement that perfectly matches the series’ hard-headed attitude. The central credit line (“Starring TALL NAKAMURA…”) and the bold Japanese title 「ビー・バップ・ハイスクール」 anchor it as unmistakably original-era theatrical material, while the small mascot-like graphic at lower right adds a surreal, cult-detail flourish that makes the composition even more memorable. An exceptionally displayable piece—minimal, confrontational, and instantly recognisable.
