This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed for the early Japanese theatrical release of Blade Runner (ブレードランナー), Ridley Scott’s influential neo‑noir science‑fiction film starring Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, and Sean Young.

Film background
Set in a rain‑soaked Los Angeles of 2019, Blade Runner follows ex‑cop Rick Deckard as he is forced out of retirement to “retire” a group of escaped replicants—bio‑engineered humans seeking longer lives. Initially a modest box‑office performer, the film has since become a cornerstone of modern science fiction, shaping the visual language of cyberpunk and prompting decades of debate over its themes of identity, memory, and humanity.

Poster design
This classic Japanese B2 uses the famous international key art: Deckard looms in the foreground with pistol raised, flanked by Rachael in her futuristic fur‑collared coat, with Roy Batty glowering from the lower corner. Above, spinner vehicles streak through beams of searchlights between monolithic skyscrapers, capturing the oppressive verticality of Scott’s future city. The bold red katakana title ブレードランナー cuts across the centre of the sheet, with the small English “Harrison Ford is Blade Runner” credit anchoring the left. Japanese tagline text along the top teases the replicants’ declaration of war on humanity, making this an essential piece for fans of the film and of ’80s sci‑fi design.
