"Kiki's Delivery Service", Original Release Japanese Movie Promotion Poster 1989, B2 Size (51 x 73cm) O581
This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1989 for the release of Kiki’s Delivery Service (魔女の宅急便), the beloved Studio Ghibli animated feature written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki, based on Eiko Kadono’s novel.
Design
A beautifully simple, character‑focused design that lets the artwork breathe. Kiki is shown in close‑up with her iconic oversized red bow, seated on her broom with Jiji perched beside her, both set against a wide, open blue sky. To the right, the warm stone façade and large circular hanging sign (with an old‑world illustration) suggest the European‑inspired city setting, while a small figure watches from a window, adding a subtle sense of story and place. The title 「魔女の宅急便」 is printed small at the top, giving the poster an elegant, minimalist feel.
Condition Good.
This poster has clear age and handling wear, including fold lines/creases, surface scuffing, edge wear, and noticeable foxing and staining (front and reverse). There are also small nicks/tears along the edges (see close‑ups). We have taken the condition into account when pricing this item. Despite the wear, the artwork remains attractive and, once framed, it will display very well from normal viewing distance—especially considering it is an original example that is now well over three decades old.
