“My Neighbor Totoro” (となりのトトロ), Original Japanese Promotional Poster 1988, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) ZA683

This is an original licensed promotional (販促) B2 poster produced in 1988 in Japan for Hayao Miyazaki’s My Neighbor Totoro (となりのトトロ). Issued for retail/bookstore and merchandise display (not a cinema one-sheet), it carries period rights for Nibariki / Tokuma Shoten and was distributed by MOVIC.

Poster design

A tall, parchment‑yellow centre panel carries the romanised title “Tonari no TOTORO,” the character names “SATSUKI KUSAKABE / MAY KUSAKABE,” and a handwritten English synopsis. Small illustrations of Satsuki and Mei appear near the top of the panel, while Ō‑Totoro stands at the bottom accompanied by Chū‑Totoro and Chibi‑Totoro. The left and right sides are framed by soft, atmospheric countryside imagery (the Kusakabe house to the left and garden/trees to the right), all bordered by clean white margins and a thin black keyline—an elegant, design‑forward late‑’80s Ghibli promotional layout that looks fantastic framed.

Lower right: round Tokuma Shoten “B” approval seal/sticker (see close‑up photo).

Reverse is blank (no booking/rating/distributor block), consistent with a promotional (non-theatrical) issue.

Condition
