“Satellite in the Sky” (人工衛星X号/宇宙原水爆戦), Original Japanese B2 Poster 1959, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) O615

Sale price $200.00

This is an original Japanese B2 poster issued in Japan for the vintage space‑race science‑fiction film “Satellite in the Sky”, released with the bold Japanese title 「人工衛星X号」 (with the dramatic accompanying text 「宇宙原水爆戦」 on this design—often interpreted as a “space H‑bomb war” style tagline). It’s a wonderful, of‑its‑time piece of late‑50s futurism—optimism, danger, and big Space Age spectacle wrapped into one striking sheet.

Collectors of classic sci‑fi paper love posters like this because the artwork sells the era’s imagination: rockets, spacewalk peril, and romance under the stars—exactly the kind of mid‑century sci‑fi visual language that defined the period.

Poster design
Fantastic painted sci‑fi artwork: an astronaut reaches for a tumbling satellite in a streaking starfield, while the huge vertical Japanese title 「人工衛星X号」—with the bold red “X” accent—gives the poster monumental presence. The top banner proudly advertises “CINEMASCOPE” and 総天然色 (full color), and the bottom adds a classic human‑scale counterpoint with the romantic couple—perfect vintage genre marketing with an unmistakably Japanese typographic finish.

A great period detail: the cast names are printed in katakana on the design (including Kieron Moore, Lois Maxwell, and Donald Wolfit), reinforcing its authentic release-era presentation.

Condition
Very good overall for a 1959 B2. With visible fold lines, plus edge/handling wear. There is minor wear/spotting near the upper edge visible in the photos, and the reverse shows noticeable age toning/foxing and staining, along with a few small marks from age and handling (including an ink scuff/notes visible on the back). Please review the photos carefully—they show the exact poster for sale.
