“Total Recall” (トータル・リコール), Original Japanese First-Release Movie Poster 1990, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) T254

Sale price $118.00

This is an original Japanese B2 poster produced for the 1990 first theatrical release of Total Recall, directed by Paul Verhoeven and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Released in Japan on 1 December 1990, the film combines spectacular science-fiction action with a disturbing exploration of artificial memories and fractured identity.

Film background
Inspired by Philip K. Dick’s short story We Can Remember It for You Wholesale, the film follows Douglas Quaid, a construction worker who visits Rekall to purchase implanted memories of a holiday on Mars. When the procedure goes wrong, he becomes entangled in a conspiracy that forces him to question his marriage, his past, and his own identity.

With Sharon Stone, Rachel Ticotin, Michael Ironside, and Ronny Cox, Total Recall brings together elaborate practical effects, dark humour, and relentless action while keeping the boundary between reality and fantasy uncertain.

Poster design
This dramatic design centres on Schwarzenegger restrained in the Rekall chair, his face contorted and hands gripping the armrests. Positioned diagonally across the lower-left portion of the poster, the chair appears suspended within swirling cyan, turquoise, and deep-blue forms, suggesting the disorientation of the memory procedure.

Across the top, enormous, angular TOTAL RECALL lettering dominates the composition, with SCHWARZENEGGER immediately above. A rectangular inset between the English title words contains the film’s distinctive glowing red triangular motif, set against stars and a red planetary landscape.

The bold orange-red Japanese title provides a vivid contrast to the blue background. A white tagline across the middle begins 「見たこともない!」—“Unlike anything you’ve ever seen!”—promising audiences an extraordinary cinematic adventure.

Condition
Excellent. Light handling creases and small surface impressions are visible, particularly on the reverse. The rich blue background and vivid red lettering retain strong visual impact. Once framed, this poster will display beautifully.
