"Snoopy Come Home (スヌーピーの大冒険)", Original Japanese Movie Poster 1975, Speed Poster (B4 Size c. 26 x 73cm)) N178
This is an original Japanese speed poster (B4 size, c. 26 × 73 cm) printed in 1975 for the first theatrical release of Snoopy Come Home (スヌーピーの大冒険), the second feature-length Peanuts film directed by Bill Melendez. Japanese speed posters were produced in much small numbers and were displayed in cinemas as quick promotional pieces, making them particularly scarce and collectible.
Film background
Released in 1972, Snoopy Come Home was the follow-up to A Boy Named Charlie Brown (1969). The story follows Snoopy and Woodstock on a journey across the country after Snoopy receives a letter from his original owner, Lila, who is in the hospital. Known for its bittersweet tone, the film explores themes of loyalty and friendship, while featuring a memorable musical score by Richard and Robert Sherman (famous for their work on Disney classics). Though not a major box-office hit, the film became a beloved entry in the Peanuts legacy and is remembered for its emotional impact and charm.
Poster design
The Japanese speed poster features Snoopy surfing on a wave with Woodstock perched happily nearby, an image that reflects the whimsical and adventurous spirit of the film. Bold vertical Japanese typography “スヌーピーの大冒険” (Snoopy’s Great Adventure) anchors the design, while smaller Peanuts characters appear in illustrated form at the base. Its tall, narrow layout emphasizes movement and energy, perfectly suited for display in Japanese cinemas of the era.
