"Female Prisoner Scorpion: #701’s Grudge Song", Original Release Japanese Speed Poster 1973, Speed Poster Size (c. 26 cm × 75 cm) N47
This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1973 for the first release of Female Prisoner Scorpion: #701’s Grudge Song (女囚さそり 701号怨み節), the fourth and final film in the first Scorpion series starring Meiko Kaji.
Film background
After a brutal police interrogation leaves her lover dead, Nami Matsushima—codename “Scorpion #701”—escapes custody yet again, vowing retribution on the men who betrayed her. Director Yasuharu Hasebe amplifies the franchise’s trademark blend of exploitation, surreal imagery and feminist fury, while Meiko Kaji delivers her haunting theme song “Urami Bushii.”
Poster design
Printed in the tall speed-poster format, this design features:
-
A full-height, monochrome portrait of Meiko Kaji in trench coat and shotgun, haloed by a blazing orange aura.
-
A stalking black panther prowling across the lower half—visual shorthand for Scorpion’s lethal stealth.
-
Speed posters were produced in far smaller numbers than standard B2s, making first-run examples for landmark pinky-violence titles exceedingly scarce and collectible.
