“Akira” (アキラ), Rare Original Japanese Promotional Chirashi / Young Magazine “’88年夏 アニメ映画公開決定！— PART 4［ケイ］” Chirashi Flyer 1987, Size (c. 21 × 14.8 cm)
This is an original Japanese promotional chirashi (handbill) issued by Kodansha to advertise AKIRA PART 4 (the fourth tankōbon). Produced for Young Magazine point‑of‑sale in 1987, it is the scarce compact A5 flyer format for bookshop use, carrying the same striking PART 4 campaign art seen on in‑store displays.
Across the top the sheet shouts: 「’88年夏 アニメ映画公開決定！」(Anime movie release confirmed for Summer ’88!). Flanking the central throne vignette are the lines 「紀元二千二十年」 (Year 2020 AD) and 「大東京帝国誕生」 (Birth of the Great Tokyo Empire). Angled across the mid‑right is the callout 「『アキラ』第4巻」 (“Akira” Volume 4). Running along the lower band is “OTOMO KATSUHIRO — PART4［ケイ］”, with the bold sales block announcing 「7月10日(金)発売!!」 and the specs: 「描きおろしカバー／巻頭カラー8ページ／B5判400ページ／定価1,000YEN」, plus the giveaway note 「アキラグッズが1,500人に当たるプレゼントつき！」 and publisher credit 講談社. Blank verso (as issued).
Condition
Very Good (vintage, unrestored). Unfolded A5 flyer on thin white stock; light handling; scattered age‑related spotting / foxing and small stains to both sides, most visible in the light background areas and along the edges; corners with only minor wear; image and text remain sharp, red inks strong.
