A rare and visually arresting Japanese B5-sized poster pamphlet for The Mummy (1959), Hammer Films’ lush, full-color reinvention of the classic monster mythos. This original Japanese release booklet features bold, stylized artwork of the bandaged creature emerging from a swamp as soldiers shine their lights on him — while a woman in a vivid red dress screams in classic mid-century horror fashion.
Starring Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, this 1959 version from director Terence Fisher brought Gothic horror back to vivid life with Hammer’s signature atmosphere, lavish sets, and blood-tinged tension. Distributed by Universal International in Japan, it was shown at the prestigious Marunouchi Toho Theatre.
Inside, the pamphlet would have included stills, cast info, and a Japanese-language plot summary — the perfect souvenir for filmgoers at the time. A must-have piece of ephemera for collectors of Hammer Horror, Universal Monsters, and vintage Japanese cinema memorabilia.
