This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed in 1964 for the first Japanese release of Bebo’s Girl (La ragazza di Bube), directed by Luigi Comencini and starring Claudia Cardinale and George Chakiris. The film opened in Japan on 12 September 1964, distributed by Shochiku Eihai (松竹映配).

Adapted from Carlo Cassola’s novel, the film is a poignant post-war Italian romance: Mara (Cardinale) falls deeply in love with Bube, a former partisan, only to find their future threatened by violence, politics, and the consequences of the recent war—turning youthful love into a test of endurance and devotion.

Poster design
A beautifully restrained, design-led Japanese composition dominated by an intense close-up portrait of Claudia Cardinale, with a small vignette of the couple at upper left and the Italian title LA RAGAZZA DI BUBE set in stark white lettering. The large yellow Japanese title ブーベの恋人 cuts across the upper field with superb contrast, creating a sophisticated, gallery-ready look that frames exceptionally well.
