This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1961 for the first release of The Bride of Headless Island.

The Bride of Headless Island (Japanese title: 首なし島の花嫁, Kubinoshima no Hanayome) is a 1961 jidaigeki-mystery thriller directed by Hideaki Ōnishi (大西秀明) and released by Tōei on 15 November 1961. Based on a screenplay by Akiyoshi Kataoka, the 55-minute feature blends period-drama intrigue with gothic suspense.

A year after the murderous pirate Jūbei “Sea-Serpent” Ikariya was reportedly beheaded, his former shipmates receive cryptic letters summoning them to the fog-shrouded “Headless Island,” where unimaginable treasure—and vengeance—await. Jūbei’s daughter, the spirited Okayo, also arrives, accompanied by carefree gambler Yata. As night falls inside the clan’s decrepit coastal mansion, eerie sutras echo through the halls, mysterious clay talismans appear beside fresh corpses, and a white-haired phantom stalks the shadows. Greed, betrayal, and superstition collide as the guests are eliminated one by one, leading to a revelation that ties the killings to buried gold and long-hidden family secrets. Combining swordplay, locked-room mystery devices, and ghost-story atmospherics, the film offers a brisk, twist-laden slice of early-1960s Tōei genre cinema.
