This is an original Japanese B2 poster issued (very small print run!) in 2025 for the special theatrical program René Laloux: La collection fantastique—a curated revival screening of the visionary SF animator’s three landmark features: Fantastic Planet (1973, La Planète Sauvage / ファンタスティック・プラネット), Time Masters (1982, Les Maîtres du Temps / 時の支配者), and Gandahar (1987, ガンダーラ).

Born in Paris in 1929, René Laloux brought adult, idea-driven animation to the fore, collaborating with bande dessinée greats Roland Topor, Moebius (Jean Giraud), and Philippe Caza. Working with studios in Czechoslovakia, Hungary, and North Korea, he realised vast, imaginative worlds on limited budgets. Fantastic Planet became the first animated film to win the Cannes Jury Prize and enjoys enduring cult status in Japan; Time Masters is a time-paradox epic created with Moebius; Gandahar is a prescient future fable. This 2025 program screened all three features together.

Design: a lush collage anchored by the blue-skinned Draag child with crimson eyes from Fantastic Planet, surrounded by characters and motifs from Time Masters and Gandahar, with bilingual French/Japanese titling that underscores the retrospective nature of the event.

Printed in 2025. Very small print run.
