This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1968 for the first release of The Snow Woman.
The Snow Woman (Japanese title: 怪談雪女, Kaidan Yukionna) is a 1968 Japanese horror film directed by Tokuzō Tanaka and produced by Daiei Film. Based on the classic Japanese folktale Yuki-onna, the story centers on a beautiful yet deadly snow spirit who punishes those who betray her love.
The film follows a young woodcutter named Minokichi, who encounters a mysterious woman during a snowstorm after his companion is killed by an otherworldly presence. She spares his life on the condition he never speaks of the incident. Years later, he falls in love with a woman named Yuki, whose true identity may not be what it seems. The tale unfolds with an eerie, dreamlike atmosphere and quiet tragedy.
With its poetic visuals, stark wintry landscapes, and haunting performance by Shiho Fujimura, The Snow Woman is a standout of 1960s kaidan cinema — a genre defined by restrained horror, moral fables, and supernatural retribution.
