This is an original Japanese poster printed for the release of The Prince and the Showgirl (王子と踊子), starring Marilyn Monroe and Laurence Olivier.

The Prince and the Showgirl is a 1957 romantic comedy film directed and produced by Laurence Olivier, who also stars alongside Marilyn Monroe. Based on the 1953 stage play The Sleeping Prince by Terence Rattigan, the film follows the story of a widowed Prince Regent of Carpathia who becomes romantically involved with a spirited American showgirl during a diplomatic visit to London in 1911. Their relationship unfolds over the course of one evening filled with charm, humour, and romantic tension.

This production is remembered for its behind-the-scenes tensions between Monroe and Olivier, later dramatised in the 2011 film My Week with Marilyn. Despite the challenges during filming, Monroe’s performance was praised for her warmth and comedic timing, and the movie remains a notable entry in her career.

This poster in very good condition for its age. It has a horizontal fold line, a tear on the right hand side, and some marks from tape at the bottom right hand side. This poster was actually used in the cinema over 60 years ago. Once framed this poster will display very well. This poster could be linen-backed and restored to bring it back to it`s full potential.
