“Day of the Dead” (死霊のえじき), Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 1986 (film 1985), B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) K230
This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed in 1986 for the first Japanese release of Day of the Dead (死霊のえじき), George A. Romero’s landmark third entry in his “Dead” cycle and one of the most influential zombie films ever made.
Set in a near-future underground bunker, the film turns the apocalypse inward—pitting survivors against each other as much as against the dead, while pushing Romero’s social critique into bleak, claustrophobic territory. It’s also celebrated for its legendary practical effects by Tom Savini, among the most iconic gore and makeup work of the 1980s.
Poster design
A brutally powerful Japanese design: a wall of decaying, blue-green zombie faces rises from darkness beneath a violent red “static” sky, streaked with dripping blood. The huge English title DAY OF THE DEAD sits above the massive Japanese title 死霊のえじき in aggressive red-and-white typography—an exceptional, high-impact horror one-sheet that looks incredible framed.
It is over 39 years old!
