“Dogs” (ドッグ), Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 1977, Seito Artwork, RARE, B1 Size (c. 72.8 × 103 cm)
This is an original Japanese B1 theatrical movie poster, printed for the film’s original release era in Japan. A superb, high-impact piece of 1970s exploitation / natural-horror cinema advertising — made all the more desirable by its striking painted key art by Seito (signed in the artwork).
The design is pure wall-power: a hyper-real, snarling black dog lunges out of the darkness, jaws wide with gleaming fangs and a vivid red tongue, anchored by the bold blood-splattered Japanese title 「ドッグ」 and English DOGS beneath. Minimal text, maximum menace — a perfect example of how Japanese poster design often distilled a film into one unforgettable image.
The B1 format is especially sought-after for display (a true large-format Japanese cinema poster), and original B1 examples for this title are very hard to come by, particularly in strong condition like this.
Provenance
Authentic Japanese theatrical issue featuring Seito’s iconic illustration and the Japanese release presentation (including the “starring David McCallum” credit line). A standout piece for collectors of Japanese poster art, animal-attack cinema, and Seito’s work.
Offered here in very good / excellent condition overall — bright, strong colour with an excellent display look. There is only light handling / gentle creasing consistent with age and storage.
A bold, scarce Japanese B1 from the late-1970s horror cycle — and a genuinely memorable Seito image that looks incredible framed.
This is not a reproduction or reprint.
Certificate of Authenticity included.
