This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1980 for Stanley Kubrick’s modern-horror landmark The Shining (1980), adapted from Stephen King’s novel and starring Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall, Scatman Crothers, and Danny Lloyd. A claustrophobic descent into madness at the snowbound Overlook Hotel, Kubrick’s film redefined the genre with precise camerawork (notably Steadicam), eerie sound design, and indelible imagery.
Design
Powerful still montage under a bold black header: at left, Nicholson’s deranged grin peers through the splintered bathroom door; at right, Duvall recoils mid-scream, knife in hand, with a blurred axe crossing the foreground—kinetic, visceral, unmistakable. The lower white band carries the English logotype THE SHINING above the vivid red Japanese title 「シャイニング」, with full credits and Warner Bros. marks—a crisp, high-impact Japanese campaign.
