"Destroy All Monsters (怪獣総進撃)", Original Re-Release Japanese Movie Poster 1972, Toho, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) I87
This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1972 for the Toho re-release of Destroy All Monsters (1968), directed by Ishirō Honda with special effects by Eiji Tsuburaya. Considered one of the greatest ensemble kaiju films of the Showa era, it remains a cornerstone of the Godzilla franchise and a fan favorite worldwide.
Film background
Destroy All Monsters (怪獣総進撃, Kaijū Sōshingeki) assembles an unprecedented roster of Toho’s iconic creatures: Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra, Anguirus, King Ghidorah, Minilla, Gorosaurus, Baragon, Kumonga, Manda, and Varan. Set in the then-futuristic year of 1999, the monsters live in peace on “Monsterland” until alien invaders from the Kilaak race seize control of them, unleashing a global wave of destruction. Humanity fights back, culminating in an epic final showdown at Mount Fuji where Earth’s monsters join forces against King Ghidorah. Widely praised for its spectacle and scale, it became a benchmark for multi-monster crossover films.
Poster design
The poster explodes with action, showcasing Godzilla, Minilla, Anguirus, and the rest of Toho’s monster lineup in pitched battle against King Ghidorah above a burning cityscape. Atomic rays and kaiju powers dominate the composition, with a bold red title across the bottom that declares “Godzilla’s All-Out Monster Attack.” The vibrant colors and panoramic chaos make this one of the most visually striking designs of the early 1970s re-release cycle.
